ABOUT CG/24
POLAR BEARS INTERNATIONAL
Although polar bears are treading on thin ice, the situation is not irreversible – and PBI is taking a two pronged approach to saving the bears. First, PBI is working with the world’s leading polar bear scientist to gather data needed to make sound management decisions. For example, PBI supports the global Polar Population Project, which is helping scientists pinpoint the geographic pockets where polar bears might survive as the sea ice diminishes. Second, PBI’s wide range of educational programs inspire, inform and empower people to make a difference by reducing carbon emissions and motivating others to do the same. www.polarbearsinternational.org. 105 Morris Street, Suite 188, Sebastopol, CA 95472. BWBT started out by raising critical funds during their first summer to hire a three person forest service crew to perform 16 weeks of trail maintenance. Their efforts prevented trail closures and they set a tone for the type of work BWBT does today. Today, BWBT is a trail user coalition that works to make Big Wood Backcountry trails the best that they can be for all user groups. BMBT promotes a stewardship ethic and BWBT encourages everyone to take personal responsibility for the trials. Each year, BWBT leads hundreds of volunteers into the field. “Our trails are important to us – to our happiness, our health, and to our local economy. We work to protect and improve this incredible resource.” www.bwbt.org. P.O. Box 5131, Ketchum, ID, 83340. DAN DARRAH, MUSICIAN
“I've had a busy couple years, I have a new little baby girl and life is good.” I'm really looking forward to getting back to the acoustic and working on a solo record. Thank you all for the continued love and support." – Dan NATIVE ENERGY
Carbon offsets are the only practical way that you can reduce your global warming pollution to zero. Reducing the amount of energy we use is critically important in the effort to stop global warming. But it isn't nearly enough. Even if you drive a hybrid car, use compact fluorescent lighting and take every energy saving step you can, you are still going to use some energy and create CO2 pollution. There's only one way to do something about the carbon-based pollution you can't avoid creating - help reduce CO2 pollution another way. With NativeEnergy, you can help finance and build new clean and renewable energy projects that help create sustainable economic benefits for Native Americans, Alaska Native villages and other local communities, and that help America's family farmers compete with agribusiness. These projects will displace electricity from fossil fuels and reduce other greenhouse gas emissions on your behalf, making up for the CO2 emissions you can't avoid. www.nativeenergy.com. 30 Kimball Avenue, Suite 301, South Burlington, VT 05403.
